Ms. Patty & Babette Wanted to Hire These Two Hot Guys to Carry You Around All Day and Feed You Bon-Bons, but I Took You to Church Instead

It’s been a while. So long, in fact, that you probably thought that last post was THE last post. (Actually, I did think about doing that, as it would’ve been appropriate in theme, I think.) But, really, I’ve just been pretty darn busy lately with birthdays and family and all sorts of various extravaganzas.

Obviously, I’ve got lots to tell you about and tons of responding to do. (Hey, John!) And eventually it’ll all happen. (I hope to be caught up and back in the swing of things by Monday.) But for now, I’ll just get things rolling with Caelyn’s 2nd Birthday Party, Online Photo Album Edition.

The party featured The Tubes of Irving Bible Church, 28 guests (all family members), and, of course, Caelyn:

This year’s cake was a whole different story than last year’s, and not just because this year’s cake was really cupcakes.

(Meet me after the jump for way too many b-day pics!)

All this party needs is some Chick-fil-a and guests!

Party favor purses (inside are bubbles and stickers) and glitter Cs. Yeah, that’s right; I’m teaching our daughter how to be egocentric early.

(PS — I wish vinyl could be ironed, but it can’t.)

Lunch, minus the nuggets

Nugget Bearers

(Papa, Daddy, & Aunt Trev bringin’ in the goods)

Dessert: yellow cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting and chocolate buttercream frosting, as well as chocolate chip 2s

(The CCs looked better before sliding around in the car for 30 mins, but oh, well.)

Servin’ It Up

Eatin’ It Up

(I’m pretty sure the kids didn’t realize there were baked and regular chips, as they all chose baked. And, in case you’re curious . . . . L to R: Kate, Uncle David, Elizabeth, Olivia, Hannah, Trevor, Zachariah, Daniel, Aunt Mel, Great Grandmom, Shelly, Uncle Nate, Graham, & Finley.)

Caelyn knows where it’s at.

(To say that she’s finally developed a sweet tooth would be a horrendous understatement, especially when she sits unsupervised by Auntie Jen, who lets her have THREE cupcakes AND a cookie because “it’s her birthday and she wants to.” At least we know the kid can hold her sugar.)

Claire’s love of climbing worked out well in The Tubes.

Finley’s safe!

Colliding Cousins

(I was a little worried that the older kids might not have much fun. I was wrong.)

(Great) Grammie & (Great) MeMa keepin’ the party goin’ outside The Tubes

(They always seem to magically coordinate.)

Can’t Buy Me Love Table

(And this doesn’t even include the stack of early-opened clothes from Grammi Roo, Grandaddy, Auntie Jen, Uncle Kev, & Claire! Not to mention the kitchen from Nana & Papa! I don’t think I have to tell you that Caelyn’s been spending lots of time in her room since we got home from this party.)

Caelyn and Mommy tearin’ into the presents

(I love that my arms look like they belong to two different people in this pic. And, yes, I’m double jointed.)

Like mother, like daughter

Two is the year baby girls become princesses, right?

“How did you know I wanted a tent?!”

“See you next year!”

Katy! No need to worry about responding to my stuff for a while; I am leaving tomorrow for Los Angeles for 10 days. Info (and video!) on my blog. And! It’s good to see you back in the blogging saddle again. And you guys made the most beautiful little girl. And I’ll talk to you soon!

lex — Thanks! And hey! We love cupcakes!! I think you should get some to celebrate your time in CPE. Really. A whole batch of ‘em. (I’m actually pretty sad that these are all gone. A cupcake a day was nice while it lasted.)

Btw, if you could have any cupcake you wanted, what kind would you choose?

John — It’s you, in the flesh! (Sorta.) I hope Los Angeles and San Diego and Las Vegas turn out to be exactly the vacation you need. If any movie lover has ever earned a trip to a movie set, it’s you, man. Thanks for the kind words and have fun! (What am I talking about? Like you could possibly not have fun with burgers, fries, shakes, and The Dark Knight around.) I’m looking forward to pics and stories in mass quantity!

The party was the highlight of our 2 week trip! We had so much fun, and so did everyone else! You really know how to par-ty!

JSmo — Thanks! I’m glad you Smos were all there! I think it ended up being fun for everyone too. We’ll have to do it again next year, if Caelyn wants. I think she had a great time, but, of course, she could have a party with just her, your red purse, and a dark closet. :) I’m glad she’s started to think of Claire, Finley, and Graham as friends! I think she’d love to have them come over and play every day. And, hey, even Uncle Kev got a little love this time! Talk about progress! All it took was 2 whole days of close contact and observing him with Claire. :)
